Friday, July 19th, 1968 - The U.S. House of Representatives, under tremendous pressure from the National Rifle Association (NRA) kills President Johnson's proposal for federal registration of handguns.

 

Saturday, July 20th, 1968 - U.S. president Lyndon Johnson and South Vietnamese president Nguyen Van Thieu complete two days of talks in Hawaii.

 

Sunday, July 21st, 1968 - The 65th Annual Tour de France is won by Dutch cyclist Jan Janssen.
