Saturday, June 1st, 1968 - Writer and humanitarian Helen Keller dies in her sleep at the age of 87 in Westport, Connecticut.

 

Sunday, June 2nd, 1968 - Golfer Bob Lunn, 23, wins the $115,000 Atlanta Golf Classic championship.

 

Monday, June 3rd, 1968 - Pop artist Andy Warhol is shot and seriously wounded outside his New York City studio by radical feminist Valerie Solanas, founder of S.C.U.M. (the Society for Cutting Up Men).

 

Tuesday, June 4th, 1968 - Rebounding from his defeat in the Oregon presidential primary the week before, Senator Robert F. Kennedy wins the California presidential primary.

 

Wednesday, June 5th, 1968 - Just moments after delivering a late-night California primary victory speech at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, Senator Robert F. Kennedy is shot shortly after midnight by a 24-year-old Jordanian named Sirhan Sirhan.

 

Thursday, June 6th, 1968 - At 1:44 am ( a little over 25 hours after being shot), Senator Robert F. Kennedy is pronounced dead at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, California.

 

Friday, June 7th, 1968 - Random House Publishing releases Charles Rembar's book "The End of Obscenity", which examines the censorship cases surrounding the books "Lady Chatterly's Lover", "Tropic of Cancer", and "Fanny Hill".
