Monday, June 17th, 1968 - Queen Elizabeth II invests her oldest son, Prince Charles, with the Order of the Garter in ceremonies at Windsor Castle.

 

Tuesday, June 18th, 1968 - Anti-war presidential candidate Senator Eugene McCarthy (D-Minn.) makes an unexpectedly good showing in the New York presidential primary.

 

Wednesday, June 19th, 1968 - Anti-war demonstrators picket the Warner Theater in New York City during the premiere showing of the pro-Vietnam War movie "The Green Berets", starring John Wayne.

 

Thursday, June 20th, 1968 - In Sacramento, California 21-year-old Jim Hines becomes the first person to break the ten second barrier in the 100 meter race.

 

Friday, June 21st, 1968 - Off the coast of Miami, Florida sailor Hugo Vihlen, 36, ends his record-breaking 41,000-mile solo journey across the Atlantic Ocean in his 6-foot sailboat "April Fool". The journey began on March 29th in Casablanca, Morocco.
