Saturday, March 16th, 1968 - After repeatedly stating he had no intention of entering the 1968 presidential race, New York Senator Robert F. Kennedy (encouraged by Johnson's poor showing in the New Hampshire primary) announces his candidacy for the Democratic Presidential Nomination.
Sunday, March 17th, 1968 - The Bee Gees make their American television debut on "The Ed Sullivan Show" singing "Words" and "To Love Somebody".
Monday, March 18th, 1968 - Mel Brooks' first film, "The Producers", starring Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel, is released by Embassy Pictures.
Tuesday, March 19th, 1968 - Students at Howard University in Washington, D.C. begin a four-day seizure of the Administrative Building to demand, among other things, the establishment of a department of Afro-American history.
Wednesday, March 20th, 1968 - Eric Clapton and three members of Buffalo Springfield (Neil Young, Richie Furay, and Jim Mesina) are arrested in Los Angeles for "being at a place where it is suspected marijuana is being used".
Thursday, March 21st, 1968 - New York Republican Governor Nelson Rockefeller ends months of speculation about his presidential aspirations by formally announcing he will not enter the 1968 presidential race.
