Wednesday, May 15th, 1968 - A tornado rips through Charles City, Iowa, killing 15 people, destroying 337 homes, and causing $30 million in damage. Ironically, while the tornado destroys or damages eight churches, it leaves all the bars standing.
Thursday, May 16th, 1968 - A magnitude 8.2 earthquake strikes Honshu Island, Japan, killing 52 people and injuring 329 others.
Friday, May 17th, 1968 - Nine Catholics (including the prominent activist brothers Daniel and Philip Berrigan) break into a draft board in Catonsville, Maryland and burn 378 draft files with homemade napalm as a protest against the Vietnam War.
Saturday, May 18th, 1968 - About 10,000 demonstrators march in Madrid, Spain, erecting barriers and clashing with police, in solidarity with the protestors in France.
Sunday, May 19th, 1968 - Sally Field hosts the 19th Annual Emmy Awards in Hollywood, California. The award for Outstanding Dramatic Series goes to "Mission Impossible", and the award for Outstanding Comedy Series goes to "Get Smart".
Monday, May 20th, 1968 - At the University of Washington in Seattle, about 100 members of the Black Student Union stage a sit-in in the offfice of President Charles Odegaard.
Tuesday, May 21st, 1968 - Students occupy the University of West Berlin in solidarity with the ongoing student unrest in France.
