Thursday, May 9th, 1968 - Emmy Award-winning actress Marion Lorne (best know for her role as Aunt Clara in the TV show "Bewitched") dies of a heart attack in New York City at the age of 84.
Friday, May 10th, 1968 - Preliminary peace talks between the United States and North Vietam begin in Paris during what turns out to be the deadliest week for U.S. soldiers (562 killed) of the entire Vietnam War.
Saturday, May 11th, 1968 - The Montreal Canadiens defeat the St. Louis Blues 3-2 to win the 52nd National Hockey League's Stanley Cup.
Sunday, May 12th, 1968 - Recently widowed Coretta Scott King officially launches the Poor People's Campaign in Washington, D.C. Planned by her late husband, the campaign aims to bring thousands of people from around the country to erect a settlement of tents and shacks (called "Resurrection City) near the Washington Mall to draw attention to the plight of the impoverished and to lobby for an "economic bill of rights".
Monday, May 13th, 1968 - As civil unrest in Paris continues to escalate, students successfully occupy the Sorbonne, while thousands of sympathetic workers join in the first of several nationwide strikes.
Tuesday, May 14th, 1968 - Nebraska holds its presidential primary. Richard Nixon wins 78% of the Republican vote, while Robert F. Kennedy wins 52% of the Democratic vote.
